Arabian Princess by Ali-Shobbar Arabian Princess by Ali-Shobbar
This one how I believe how an Arabian Princess looks like, not the usual Hollywood belly dancer/pleasure slave.
the cloths is a mix between Arabian, Turkish and Persian cultures.
Although her facial features are more Turkish/Persian than an Arabian one.

What a beautiful piece of work, it's cool that you made this look to be more original than all those other skanky bellydancer outfits I see on DeviantArt! It's nice to see a change from all of that. Kudos. :)

thank you very much :)
I very much appreciate your comment on this regard, true, I wonder why, for the life of me, they display princess like pleasure slaves? I mean if a princess looks like a belly dancer, how does a belly dancer look like...? a princess?

It's really nice to see an Arabian princess which is actually DRESSED, not exposed at the whole world. I like the patterns, they're so beautiful and also exotic (at least for me). :) But don't you think that her breasts are a little too exposed? Maybe she should wear something more loose to cover them better? ;)

what you say Is totally true, I actually didn't take a note of this element of the illustration, I kinda got carried away, a true princess should really wear something loose to cover them ^_^

Hey, dude... I'm writing a fantasy story about a land which has, coincidentally, a mix of Byzantine, Turkish, Persian and Arabic traits.
Can you suggest any source I can look into, to better shape it out? I'm interested in stuff like clothing, architecture, traditions... :)

so sorry for the late reply man, I dont check my D.A that often.
For clothing, weaponry, tactics refer to the Men at Arms series:
1- [link]
2- [link]
3- [link]
4- [link]
5- [link]

and search the rest of the series for the Byzantine Empire and the different era's of the Arabian, Persian Empires..etc
for architecture, I can name different books, but sadly I could not get books specialized enough of the eras I was interested in but I recommend this book, which is like a bible for such topics:
1- [link]

As for Traits, I don't understand what exactly you meant by that? customs? habits? culture? they way they conduct themselves?
it really differ from one region to another, even in the same era.
well, What is the nature of your story? fantasy or pure history?

Hey, thanks for the reply and the links.
And no, it's just a fantasy story.
I like fantasy counterpart cultures, but I don't like those fantasy cultures that are EXACT REPLICAS of real ones. That's why I wanted to mix it up a little bit, introducing bits and pieces from several real life cultures.

Yup, it's my next comic book.
It's a fantasy story in which the good guys are two big kingdoms. One is greek/roman themed, and the other is the one I was talking about. :)

the patterns are downloaded from the net, i just cut what i need from them, change it a bit and use it on the illustration.
they are mixed from Turkish, Arabic and Persian.
the ones I usually prefer are the Turkish, because they had a big variety of patterns and they blended both the Persian and the Arabic art.

Mazaaaaaaaaaaj ya Ali!

Great work. Really very nice. I like the fine detailed texture, not to mention the mood (blue background with yellowish foreground). I think a littel blusih tint layer on her will make her blend perfectly with the background; but what the hell, great job

The fountain and the background musicals are als very nice touch.

I need to re-start drawing after my exam!

That detail! Love it! Not to mention that outfit...so elegant and graceful looking!

All I have to say with critiques is that something looks awkward with her breasts...I can't exactly put my finger on what's wrong, but it seems like the outline of it goes up a tad bit too high, but that might be an illusion from the fabrics coming together...

No problem...other than that though...I love it! I don't see a lot of art surrounding exotic beauties (except elves galore and fairies...) or cultures that aren't caucasian or purely Japanese on deviant art...very refreshing...
